The Smiths

11 February 1986 This is an alternate transfer to the same recording which was seeded here last week. I know nothing of the lineage. I got this cd years ago and Tau Analyser confirms there is no compression in the lineage. The sound quality is not significantly better than the other transfer, I expect that the master must not have been a good recording. The sound is still clearer, less muffled than the other transfer, so it was reproduced with better equipment or is one or two generations closer to the master. So... for completists only. CD -> WAV -> FLAC6 Torrent created on 13 September 2009. Shakespeare's Sister

//Hand In Glove This turned out to be a great concert and the Smiths were very well received. The crowd sang along to many of the songs, particularly during the encores when Morrissey could have turned his microphone off because then fans sang in unison the words they all knew so well. The setlist given here might be incomplete. New live additions "Vicar In A Tutu" and "Cemetry Gates" (which were introduced respectively as "a new song" and "another new song") were played, but apparently not "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" and "Frankly Mr Shankly". This was the first time live staple "Hand In Glove" was played in 1986. On returning to the stage after a short break to perform the first encore Johnny teased the crowd with the opening chords of "What Difference Does It Make?", a song that was much requested, but not played anymore. Then Morrissey roared "HELLO!" and said "Don't be shy... don't be shy..." before the band launched into "William, It Was Really Nothing".

Is this much better than the other version and worth downloading or is it still quite an average bootleg of the gig?

According to "PJLM", they should be quite similar in quality (not too good ;)). You can have a look here:

Kind regards, Demian
