18 /There Is A Light That Never Goes Out NOTES:
My recording circulates within the Moz community but only from an analog transfer as I didn't have the capability to do digital transfers at that time. There was also some EQ'ing done to that version. This is my raw dat master, presented with no post processing whatsoever. From http://www.passionsjustlikemine.com/gigs/moz-gi0208us.htm : The second Salt Lake City also went down very well. Morrissey was in top form and even more talkative, as if possible. Security was very tight but not brutal. No one made it up on stage to Morrissey. Unfortunately the setlist wasn't changed as might have been expected for a second date in the same city. Morrissey somehow ironically acknowledged this by saying "Thank you for dragging your carcasses out here to a completely new setlist! Alain is having a drink...". After greeting his fans, Morrissey said "I hope you're wearing pampers, because you're going to pee". The intro to "Hairdresser On Fire" was adapted to "Where is Utah, oh God I'm in Utah...". At some point he enquired "I did see the SLC punks film, and there's a line in the film 'Have you heard the new Smiths album? It's terrif!'... does anybody really say 'terriff' in Salt Lake City? (crowd: 'no!') Am I just being silly?". He mentioned that it was Tuesday and that "we shouldn't be this happy on a Tuesday". He also mentioned again about his upcoming appearance on national television on the Craig Kilborn show, pointing that it was sure to have his records rushed back to be returned. "I Like You" was introduced with the line "This song is called 'I Like You', or as someone last night had written across her (points to his chest) 'I Lust You'". "Meat Is Murder" was preceded by a comment about his staying in one of the finest hotels in the city, but that said hotel's menu didn't have meals for vegetarians, adding "Oh Utah, so much to answer for". At some point someone shouted for "Seasick Yet Still Docked", but Morrissey declined: "No, no, it's too... too complicated". Recorded by JLW.
