is this november 2nd, or february 11th 1986? i always have a hard time telling with live media that's being shared. americans seem to list month-day-year, and the english seem to do day-month-year or year-day-month. any help would be great. i'm just trying to organize my recordings more precisely. thanks again for putting these soundchecks up, i look forward to hearing them.

It's a pity there aren't more soundchecks around. They were quite hard to get into though. With this one I didn't actually get into the venue ... but for the start of the soundcheck they had the back door wide open, and while you couldn't see anything, you got quite a reasonable audio. Half way through some kind gentleman saw the door open and us standing outside and decided to close it. For the bit with Morrissey I moved round to the front of the Venue and recorded it through a closed door. Thin I guess. It was nice to get some interesting stuff recorded ... those first 3 songs are hard to place. I remember hearing the beginings of Bigmouth at one of the soundchecks of the Meat is Murder tour. It was one of the SouthEast dates ... possibly Margate ... or the cancelled Southend show (We went all the way there, as it was cancelled at the last minute beacuse the venue was about to fall down or something). But there was a long soundcheck which you could heard from the outside, and I distictly remember hearing the intro to Bigmouth being played over and over. I remember thinking it sounded sort of flamenco and different. We obviously didn't have our recording stuff with us ... and it probably wouldn't have made a great recording anyway. I don't think I ever made cassette copies of this ... and only traded CD copies in the 3 or 4 years, so I imagine that this is a copy of my master transfer. Maybe I'll try remastering it sometime, to see if I can do any better

I could hear a lot of surreptitious moving of Walkman going on through that recording. It would be good to hear more soundchecks. Gloucester 84.
Dundee 85.
Inverness 85.
Liverpool 86 (here).
Dundalk 86 (here).
Glasgow 86. Any more? Any that Steve didn't record?

I only recorded the Dundee, Inverness and Dundalk soundchecks. My partner in Soundsville Paul, recorded Gloucester and Glasgow. A mate from Leeds recorded the Liverpool one. He used to travel down to Camden quite regularly and brought that down for us. I've not heard of any more. As I said ... they were very hard to get into.
