is anybody else sick of the wave of ads that keep popping up? i'm *&^*&^%$$&%*^ sick of turning things off or on to deal with this crap. are people really joining to sell me uggs? pure patagonian cattle slurry... we need a member ignore button... i would prefer to not have to see these here.

As you know, I've been running this site for many years without ads. Unfortunately I've fallen on hard times and selling Uggs and cattle slurry is my best chance to keep this site going. ;)
I'll find a way of getting rid of the spam. At the moment we're deleting them by hand. Bear with us.

Hate to say this, but maybe membership should be closed, or at least require new sing ups to have an invitation from a current member. No invitation, can't join. Have to wade through a page and a half of spam to see an audio Smiths show. Terrible!

david i am truly sorry for my outburst. the thanks for the efforts you put forth are inadequately expressed by any language i know. i had no where else to go with it and my head just popped! lol... i had such a strange reaction as this site is one of the few on the planet that seem to be void of the insanity of others. cheers to you friend - nothing personal i assure you.

If anyone's interested, the spammers have tried to sign up 180 times since I turned signup off.

I get 50 spammers a day trying to sign up. I assume it's all from the same company / person.
To date, the anti-spam question (surname of the Smiths drummer) has stopped the spam bots. I'm pretty busy at the moment. Does anyone want to help me work out how to stop the spammers so that I can return to regular signup?

I'm still getting spambots trying to join but I've changed the antispam question and allowed people to join again. Hopefully the new question will stop them. We'll see.
