I was wondering whether there was a live version of 'The Hand That Rocks The Cradle' that is of better quality than the version that is on the 'The Butterfly Collector' bootleg. Would anybody know if there is a better recording?

Unloveable was soundchecked but never made it to an official setlist (as far as we know), whereas Asleep was soundchecked AND performed as set-closer at the Eden Court in Inverness, on Oct. 1st, 1985, when the band came across a piano at the side of the stage!
Please Please Please was repeatedly performed live, in 1984 and 1985 as an abbreviated intro to main sets or encores, in 1986 with a long outro as per the studio version.
Pre-Strangeways, Oscillate Wildly, Well I Wonder, Golden Lights and the body of Rubber Ring are not known to have ever been played live. Same goes for Half A Person and Sweet & Tender Hooligan.
Rubber Ring was played in full, but I don't know which gig. It is included on the boot Ultimate Gig. SATH is also on that boot. And to another poster, YJHEIYB was played live, at least once.

The versions of the songs you describe are Morrissey solo.
Stephane notes whether a song has been played live in this list.

Thanks David, there are no notes on that boot, so I had no clue.

The Smiths never played ANY Strangeways songs live or even soundchecked them.
The latest song to be played live at a gig was Shoplifters at their final gig at Brixton in December 1986, the latest song to be played live on TV was Sheila Takes A Bow.
Morrissey however has played many Strangeways songs live, from his debut gig at Wolverhampton in 1988 with Gannon, Rourke, and Joyce, through to his latest tour.

The "I Want A Boy For My Birthday" snippet is a studio recording, not live.
Albums wise, it's easy:
The Smiths - all performed live
Meat Is Murder - only "Well I Wonder" never performed live
QID - all performed live
SHWC - none!
The singles are more complicated :) Off the top of my head, of all the singles up to "Ask", only "Oscillate Wildly", "Unloveable" and "Golden Lights" never got performed live.
For the rest of the singles, only "Shoplifters", "Is It Really So Strange" and "London" WERE performed.
Interestingly, "Please Please Please" was only ever performed once in England! (Gloucester 1984). The rest of the tour was in Wales, and the song was regularly played in the US.
Hope that helps :)
