Every single bio I read basically states the following:
As a child, Morrissey developed a number of interests and role models that marked him out among his peers, including (etc, etc). He was also interested in (etc), as well as the playwright, novelist and poet Oscar Wilde.
In adolescence, Morrissey's athletic ability saved him to a large degree from bullying
Can anyone elaborate on this athletic ability that saved him from being bullied? Any Brits know anything about this?
It's such a general statement and could me anything: could he simply outrun the bullies when chased, did he hit puberty sooner, was he just athletic but played no sports, kicked one or two asses before people realized they should leave him alone, or was he involved in sports, good/ successful (a la Rod Stewart), or even maybe THE standout athlete of the Manchester area?
Who knows. I've just been reading bios on The Moz and it seems like that sentence is in every bio (here on the internet in the states). It's gotta be put in there for a reason.
