Oxford was given the rarer "You've Got Everything Now", but regular "Heaven
Knows I'm Miserable Now" and occasional "Reel Around The Fountain" were not
played.
After the first track, "William It Was Really Nothing", in which he made the
slight mistake of singing "...and if you like you can buy the ring, *I* doesn't
care about anything", Morrissey announced "Hello, we're the other funny
Manchester group". Then before "What She Said": "I hope you take notes ...
this will all be relevant one day". "Shakespeare's Sister" was introduced with
the words "This is our new single... which is about the greatest woman that
ever lived..."
Coming back for the encore Morrissey announced "This is being taped by the
jolly BBC, so if anybody has anything clever to say, say it now and go down
in history". The version performed in Oxford was a very jolly one. Morrissey
rolled his 'R's and doubled the endings of certain lines such as "how much I
love your casual way, casual way", "you have corrupt my innocent mind, innocent
mind" or "what do we get for our trouble and pain, trouble and pain?". He also
sang "I'd really like to see your underwear". After the song he asked "Any
questions?". In "You've Got Everything Now" Morrissey took even more liberties
with his lyrics than he usually did. He changed some lines to "You've got
nothing now", "I've never had a job because I've never had an interview",
"I've never had a job because I'm too sensible" and "I've seen you smile, but
can you throw back your head and really laugh?".
OFFICIAL RELEASES
This concert was recorded by the BBC. It was first broadcast two months later
on Janice Long's Show and is still broadcast now and then around the world.
Live versions of "Nowhere Fast", "Stretch Out And Wait", "Shakespeare's
Sister" and "Meat Is Murder" from this BBC recording are available on the
"That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" single and the Holland-only "The Headmaster
Ritual" single. These same songs minus "Shakespeare's Sister" are available
on the "The Headmaster Ritual" cd-single. "Miserable Lie" is also available on
the Canadian and Dutch Rough Trade Records compilation LPs simply titled
"Compilation". "What She Said" was given away on a covermount 7" titled "Poll
Winners" which came with a 1985 issue of the NME. Finally, "Meat Is Murder"
was included on the UK edition of the "Animal Liberation" LP. This version
includes about 20 extra seconds of audience noise than the b-side version
mentioned above.
BOOTLEGS
This concert is the most widely available one on bootleg. It was broadcast
many times on various programmes in various countries but only a few different
recordings are being circulated. First of all, "I Want The One I Can't Have",
"Rusholme Ruffians" and "Handsome Devil" which were performed on that night
were never broadcast and are therefore not found on any bootleg produced from
a radio broadcast. Collectors interested in the full set will want to get
their hands on a rarer audience recording (read further).
The best bootleg has to be "Same Day Again". It is available on cd, the 14
broadcast tracks are present and in the proper order and the sound quality is
the best. The only thing it lacks is some of the in between song banter by
Morrissey that is found on some of the other titles. The bootleg was reissued
with different artwork under the same title, or the alternate titles "Live In
Europe" and "Radio One In Concert 9.5.85".
The "Before Love" cd bootleg (beware, not the LP with the same title) is just
as good but the track order was mixed. The show is coupled with "Please Please
Please Let Me Get What I Want" from Dublin 13 November 1984 and soundchecks of
"Asleep" and "Unloveable" from Inverness 1 October 1985 and "Purple Haze" from
Glasgow 16 July 1986.
"Stealers" is also very interesting. However "Barbarism Begins At Home" is
listed, but not included. It sounds like it was produced from vinyl, probably
from the "A Kind Of Loving" bootleg which has the same messed track order.
(Note the latter LP was also reissued on fanmade cd with the slight alternate
artwork.
"Better Live Than Dead" lacks three more tracks than the three that were never
broadcast: "The Headmaster Ritual", "Still Ill" and "You've Got Everything
Now". It is a CD reissue of the LP bootleg "Oxford Apollo 9.5.85 / PS Remember
Jesus Loves You". The record is on red vinyl. The "James Dean Is Dead" cd
bootleg has the same track listing, but for some reason, the sound quality is
inferior.
"Flowers" lacks four tracks from the broadcast selection: "Nowhere Fast",
"What She Said", "Hand In Glove" and "How Soon Is Now?". However what there is
of the show is coupled with two tracks from the Kilburn concert that are
missing on the official live album "Rank" as well as Peel sessions of "London"
and "Half A Person".
Finally the live version of "What She Said" mentioned above as having been
released on the NME freebie 7" "Poll Winners" found its way tagged at the end
of the "So This Is America" bootleg LP which offers an American concert from 5
August 1986.
Most, but not all of the bootlegs mentioned above are also available on file
sharing networks on one format or another. The best ones, "Same Day Again" and
"Live In Europe", are very commonly found there, so the non-availability of
some of the others is secondary.
For the few collectors interested in the full set, an audience recording of
(obviously) lesser quality can be traded from bootleg cd traders. This has not
made it onto file sharing networks yet.

Right, this gig was one of the corrupt gigs from my 160GB hard drive failure, so I saw it on DaD recently as a new improved flavour (speed-corrected and 1 minute of missing "How Soon is Now") and I naturally downloaded it. It has since been removed and banned from DaD.
Does anyone know why it was removed and banned, I would ask the question on DaD but the mods are sour-pusses and simply point you to the rules and tell you to bookmark everything you download, yawn.

The reason given was (and this was pointed out by the uploader)
It came to the uploader's attention this contains five commercially released tracks:
What She Said: released on a freebie 7" EP that came with the NME of 25 May 1985;
Nowhere Fast, Shakespeare's Sister, Stretch Out And Wait and Meat Is Murder: originally released on a 12" that was only released officially in Holland in 1985, and later three of those tracks were reissued on a CD-EP reissue that is rare as hen's teeth or rocking horse poop but nevertheless exists.
I was toying with downloading it to see how it compared to the original but was banned by the time i had finished another couple of shows i was taking..

Yeah, and I should have included "Miserable Lie" in that list, too, but I wasn't entirely sure whether that track had only made it to the proof pressing stage, or whether it had actually been released on a disc.
Would there still be any interest here? I am not going to seed a limp version on this over at Dime, with almost half of the tracks removed.

I think it's excellent, the insert of the extra music has been done very well. The only signs of anything actually being inserted is maybe a slight change in volume from one to the other and back again. But if you weren't aware of it, you wouldn't know. It's only because you point out the exact timings that it becomes apparent and then only on good close listening.
If you do post it on here, I'll gladly help you seed ;)

Thanks for the offer. And I'm glad you like it. Obviously the fix is not absolutely perfect, as I don't have the master tapes lying about on which I can make all audio levels match ;-) . On the digital source I got, I first had to raise the volume in the right channel by 2 dB to bring it to the same level as the left one. Then, I had to raise the overall volume of "Same Day Again", which as you may now is a fairly old bootleg, and consequently wasn't mastered at the high levels that have become common currency in the music business these days (unfortunately, I might add... I still prefer peaks and valleys in my wav-files, rather than huge monolithic slabs of music - but I digress).
Anyway, I'm about to add my seed to this site!
