Got this over on DaD thanks to glasnostrd19, it's a better sounding copy of the one already up which doesn't have any lineage of note.
The Smiths
Boston Opera House
Boston, Mass. U.S.A.
June 14, 1985
Performance quality: A (one of the better Smiths shows I've heard)
Recording quality: B+
source: 2nd generation audience tape
lineage: Naka. CM-100 microphones >
Sony D-5 cassette deck (dolby off)
master cassette > my source's cassette > my cassette .
(all of these are Maxell XLII-S with no dolby used)
soundforge 4.5 (to WAV) > CD > CD extractor (to WAV) >
FLAC > torrent. It's all good with this recording. The
most important thing about it? It's a Stud Muffin production!
setlist:
1: recorded walk on music
2: nowhere fast
3: I want the one I can't have
4: Jean
5: what she said
6: how soon is now?
7: that joke isn't funny anymore
8: stretch out and wait
9: Shakespeare ('s?) sister
10: Rusholme Ruffians
11: the headmaster's ritual
12: hand in glove
13: still ill
14: meat is murder
15: heaven knows I'm miserable now
16: this charming man
17: please please please let me get what I want
18: miserable lie
19: barbarism begins at home
comments:
Another treasure sourced from the Doctor of Stud Muffin productions,
this is a full Smiths show from when they were vital. I have heard some
nice 1983 Smiths torrents in recent weeks here on dime, and one from 1986
a very nice sbd from L.A. This is the next best thing to a soundboard, and
unlike any Smiths I've found on dime so far, it's from 85. The Boston
Opera House is like an Orpheum Redux. Nice little theater just down
Tremont street (Washington on the rear side) from the Orpheum and what
used to be the Music Hall (now Wang Center) in Boston's theater district.
This was recorded (I'm told by the guy with the 1st gen.) in the 1st
row of the balcony, and everything sounds very up close and personal.
(except the crowd, the packed house sounds far away.) Sure could have
used the Doctor's Nak's at Oregon in 79 down the street at the Modern
Theater which is a similar size to the Opera House. But he didn't have
them yet. I know he likes the Smiths alot, especially the early stuff
up to around this time, then lost interest after that. As far as I know
this was his only Smiths master of '85 or earlier. (too bad, since he
got his 1st deck- the D-5, in late 82- the Doctor did not mess around
with sound!). It all fits nicely on a 74 minute CD.
Do not sell this recording.
Trade freely and losslessly.

Does this show have an extended (ie 15 minute-ish) version of Barbarism?
