To my knowledge he recorded Jeane and Never Had Noone Ever and also played a few tracks live at Red Wedge with Rourke & Marr which are available in the Smiths Audio section.

i've found those two you've mentioned sweet fa (thanx) plus back to the old house on the second cd of brewing up with billy bragg . i think the album i was thinking of was the compilation the smiths is dead (incidentally not with the queen is dead cover) . if anybody knows whether there is any other trax that billy covered by the smiths i will be eternally grateful (i have the red wedge live trax ... i think) .

I like Billy Bragg but not too keen on him doing The Smiths, his delivery is all wrong for me.
The Ukrainians' versions of Smiths songs are some of the most interesting i've heard, well worth tracking down!

He has a very good cover of Never Had No One Ever on Bloke On Bloke.
And on the the bonus disc to Brewing Up With Billy Bragg, he covered Back To The Old House. However, another interesting track on this same disk is an alternate take of Bragg's "A Lover Sings" that features Johnny Marr on guitar from 1986 playing a very similar guitar part as the very familiar opening to This Charming Man.
