Do we know whether that was the title of the original version of Wonderful Woman or whether it was always called Wonderful Woman?

It was called "What Do You See In Him". With the new lyrics came the new title.

Per Simon Goddard's notes on Wonderful Woman.
Recorded September 1983, Matrix Studios, London
The last track completed at Matrix was the curious 'Wonderful Woman'. Written in the winter of 1982, it was the only Morrissey/Marr song to change its title between concert debut and actual studio recording. Originally christened 'What Do You See In Him?', its first draft was a fairly basic expression of bitter, unrequited love. Early rehearsal tapes reveal that Morrissey had problems with scanning, his words clumsily trying to pin themselves to Marr's melancholic backdrop as its verses constantly evolved. Come their third gig at the Hacienda in February 1983 (from which all popular bootleg versions of 'What Do You See In Him?' stem) he'd already reshaped its lyrics to omit phrases such as 'when will you ever learn?' and 'ice water for blood' (though the latter would be reinstated during its re-write as 'Wonderful Woman'). As the title suggests, the gist of 'What Do You See In Him?' is the age-old incomprehension of seeing the object of one's desires arm in arm with an unworthy partner destined to bring them heartache.
