There are a load of great recordings on this site. Unfortunately, they weigh in at quite a size - around 300GB at last count. Previously, we're tried sending a hard drive around with some success, although it's slow, doesn't get updated and sometimes gets lost or stolen.
An alternative is to use copy.com. It's a cloud storage system a bit like Dropbox. I have the hard drive sitting at copy.com and I can just share it with whoever that wants it. You can then set it to download in the background using a Windows, Mac or Linux program. The storage is shared equally between the people sharing so if 30 share the 300GB archive then each person is only 'using' 10GB, which is within the free allocation of 20GB. With that in mind, the more the merrier. It also means that new recordings will pop up from time to time on your hard drive without you having to do anything.
If you join copy.com via a referral then both the referrer and you get a 5GB bonus, so it's worth using the referral. Use the last person in this thread.
Here's the plan:
1) Sign up to copy.com using the last referral in this thread.
2) Send me the e-mail address (the one you used for copy.com) via PM so that I can share the archive with you.
3) Post below to say you've joined and post your invite link.
4) Enjoy!

I have a copy. Com account so can't use the referer option. From what I can see it's generally an excellent idea however there does seem to be an issue of people adding "different" recordings that are already up/inferior /mp3 based. So the cloud gets bigger with no real added music.

I think copy.com will introduce a read-only sync option. When that happens, I'll set the Archive to read-only and set an Incoming folder than will be read-write. In the mean time, I have some ideas about how to maintain it such that 'bad' recordings don't get introduced.
Here's the support request for the read-only sync option.
Flea, could I add you to the archive? If so, pm me your copy.com e-mail address.

when you click "details" on "Smiths Archive" you have on the right side of screen something which looks like that for every man who is sharing same folder:

That's right. I just need an option for people that says 'Can View & Sync'.
Was that what you meant?

David,
I'm a bit confused. Does the content sync in stages?
At present my local copy of the SMITHS ARCHIVE folder is 255 GB and there are lots of partial or empty folders, yet COPY.COM says it's up to date.
Any ideas?
Cheers

It's because I'm currently uploading my Unsorted folder, I think. Perhaps it creates the folders first then fills them with the files after.
On my hard disk it's 299GB.
