I'm sure it's a hoax. This sounds too much like a fanboy's wet dream to be true ... they will never, ever release a collection this complete!

Yeah bit of a giveaway that it's only listed on PJLM rather than anywhere official.
Would be nice though.....

Maybe the hoax is that it's not actually a hoax, just cleverly designed to look like one.

Maybe someone was bored or wanted to increase the traffic to PJLM.

Well, I'd love to see Stéphane commenting on this:
"Both formats include an illustrated booklet with extensive liner notes as well as "Smithstory 1982-1983", the first chapter of an essay by Stéphane from PassionsJustLikeMine.com."
This could be very easily falsified if untrue.

I'm still a bit confused. A thoroughly interesting and well researched fantasy album, but unusual for Stephane to post fiction.
I must admit that I got caught up in the idea and did some quick research on what was official and unofficial (i.e. on my hard disk) and what was unreleased.
Here are my results.
Most, of course, is either officially or unofficially released. Of the unreleased tracks some are mythical (e.g. You Don't Know Anything), some are well known but unreleased (e.g. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle - Decibelle) and some that have never been mentioned before (Vicar In A Tutu alternate mix).
I'm reminded when I look at this fantasy list that there's a scrapped re-issue project with many of these unreleased versions that sits in the hands of a privileged few. I hope it leaks soon.
I'd love to know the story. Stephane, time to step out from behind the shadows?

I reckon we will see the Smiths vaults being opened before too long. Maybe once Morrissey has got through his solo remasters.
I think you'll be the first to get an inkling, David, when you get a cease and desist email...
